Steven L. Buss

Founder and Principal

Steve is the Founder and a Principal at Likewise Partners, bringing 30 years of experience across real estate development, acquisitions, and capital markets. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in more than $10.5 billion in commercial and multifamily transactions—as both a principal and an intermediary. Before founding Likewise Partners in 2020, Steve led Capital Markets teams at CBRE and JLL, specializing in dispositions, equity placement, financing, and acquisitions. He has completed over 150 industrial transactions totaling 45 million square feet.

Mark Nordland

Principal

Mark is a Principal at Likewise Partners with 25 years of real estate development experience spanning industrial, retail, healthcare, and multifamily sectors. Over the course of his career, he has led development initiatives totaling more than $1 billion. Before joining Likewise, Mark was Senior Vice President of Mixed-Use Development at Life Time, where he oversaw all aspects of development, design, and construction for Life Time Villages. Under his leadership, the team launched a development pipeline exceeding $1.5 billion. Earlier in his career, Mark co-founded Launch Properties and led the Minnesota development team for Ryan Companies US, Inc. His leadership, strategic insight, and track record of execution continue to shape successful, high-impact projects.

Tom Strohm

Director of Development

Tom Strohm is Director of Development at Likewise Partners, bringing nearly 20 years of diverse experience in real estate development, design, and project management. He has led a wide range of projects, including industrial, retail, mixed-use, affordable housing, and office developments. Prior to joining Likewise, Tom spent eight years as a Senior Development Manager at United Properties. He began his career as an architect, spending seven years at BWBR before transitioning into development. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s in Real Estate from the University of St. Thomas.

Tim McShane

Build to Suit Partner

Tim leads the build-to-suit development practice at Likewise Partners and is a principal in the firm’s build-to-suit investments. He brings 30 years of experience specializing in industrial, retail, and office build-to-suit projects. Before joining Likewise, Tim was Principal and Owner of McShane Development. Prior to that, he spent a decade as Vice President of Industrial Development at Ryan Companies US, Inc., where he led the National Accounts program. Tim began his career at Trammell Crow Company after earning an MBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
